Kiev announced on Monday the destruction of a Tu-134 military transport aircraft stationed at an airfield in the Orenburg region, located about 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, reports The Moscow Times..
According to the Ukrainian military intelligence service, the attack was successfully carried out during the night on Saturday.
‘These Soviet-made aircraft are primarily used for transporting officials from the Ministry of Defense,’ the intelligence service stated in a post on social media.
The post was accompanied by footage showing a strong fire at the aircraft.However, it did not provide details on how the attack was executed.
Russia has not publicly commented on this situation.
Since the onset of the war, Russian authorities have arrested dozens of individuals on charges of sabotage, including by setting fire to military areas or transportation infrastructure.
